Magi Law Mediation Policy and Fees

What is mediation?

Mediation is an alternative means to resolve disputes outside of the court system. Mediation is a voluntary process where two or more parties involved in a dispute work with an impartial professional to facilitate solutions that work for all parties.
What is the mediation process?
1. An introduction and legally required statements.
2. Presentation of the reason(s) for the mediation (the problem).
3. Information gathering and analysis.
4. Conduct private session meetings with each party (Caucus).
5. Provide a written statement of agreement, if any.

What is the role of the mediator?

A mediator is an impartial facilitator with no vested interest in the outcome of a dispute. The mediator sets ground rules before the start of the mediation to ensure that all parties understand the process. The mediator’s obligation is to listen and help the parties arrive at their own result through managing the process.
What is it going to cost?
Mediation fees depend on the complexity of the case. However, Magi Law’s general fee is $250.00 per hour for a typical two party case. There is a two hour minimum. Sessions may be reserved at ½ day (4hr). The discounted ½ day rate is $900. Full days (8hr sessions) are discounted at $1800.00. Mediation cost are usually divided equally amongst the parties unless otherwise agreed to or ordered by the court.

Cancellation/Postponement/Late Attendance

Magi Law requires seven (7) days’ notice prior to the mediation date for cancellation or postponement before mediation session date in order to cancel without incurring a charge. If cancelation occurs within seven (7) days of the mediation session date ½ of mediation fees will become immediately due.
